Description

Skin and mouth are the two things owners apologise for, and the two a surface fix never settles.

What the pair does. These are not two versions of the same supplement, which is the usual trouble with a bundle. The salmon oil supplies marine Omega-3, EPA and DHA, which a dog cannot make in useful amounts and most food does not supply. That is the one that reaches itchy skin, a dull coat and stiff joints. The kelp is absorbed and delivered back into the mouth in saliva, so it reaches every tooth, including the crowded ones at the back, and leaves plaque harder to stick and slower to return. One works on the body, the other in the mouth, and neither substitutes for the other.

What is in it. 8 fl oz of 100% Wild Alaskan Salmon Oil, guaranteed at 26% total Omega-3, around double a standard oil, so the dose stays small. And 6 oz of certified organic Norwegian sun-cured kelp: one ingredient, nothing added. Each is covered in full on its own page.

The routine, in order. Pump the oil over dinner first, one pump per 25 lb of bodyweight. Sprinkle the kelp on top, a quarter teaspoon per 15 lb, and stir it through. Once a day, every day: both work by accumulating. Start the oil at half the amount for the first week.

How long it lasts. The bottle holds around 148 pumps: roughly two and a half months for a medium dog, five for a small one.

Good for. Dogs who scratch and whose breath has turned: more often than owners expect, the same dog. And a sensible place to start if you have never given a supplement and would rather begin with two clear jobs than a shelf of them.
