Description

How to use it

Short strokes, in the direction the hair grows, on a dry coat you have brushed out first. Let the blade do the work rather than pressing. Hair gathers in rows along the top of the blade and falls away on its own, so there is nothing to pick out. Wipe the blade when you finish.

The original

SleekEZ patented this blade and it is still made in the USA. There are cheaper copies about and they photograph much the same, but the tooth pattern is the entire product: the spacing and the wave are what let it take the loose coat and leave the topcoat alone. This is the one the patent is on.

Which width

2.5 inch for cats, small dogs and detail work. 5 inch for medium to large dogs, which is the one most people want. 10 inch for giant breeds and horses. They are sold as three separate products rather than as size options, so each has its own page.

What it will not do

It is not a dematting tool and it is not a clipper. On a coat that is already matted it will catch, and the mats want cutting out or a groomer. This is for the loose undercoat on a sound coat, which is the job it does extremely well and the only one we are claiming.
