Marula & Rooibos Soothing Paw & Nose Balm

How to use it

Warm a little between your fingers and work it into the pad or the nose leather. It goes on best after a soak or a bath, while the skin is still soft. Last thing at night is the practical answer: it has time to sink in before the next walk, and before your dog thinks to lick it off.

What it is for

Everyday wear. Pavement in summer, grit and cold in winter, and the dry nose some dogs simply have. A pad that is split and bleeding is one for your vet.

Start with a soak if the pads are hard

On pads that have gone hard or cracked, the Itchy Paw Soak is the step before this one. Ten minutes in the bowl, dry carefully between the toes, then the balm while the pad is still supple. That is the difference between the oils going in and the oils sitting on the surface.

Which of the three balms

Three balms doing one job, and the botanical is the difference. Baobab and honeybush is the lightest, and the one for everyday dryness. Marula and rooibos is richer, for pads that have had a hard season behind them. Aloe Ferox is the restoring one, for pads and noses that are already weathered.

What is in it

Marula oil and rooibos, with beeswax, shea butter and coconut oil.

Keeping it

It firms up in the cold and softens in the heat, which is beeswax behaving as beeswax does. Room temperature with the lid on.
