Deodorizing No-Rinse Cleansing Spray

Your dog smells like a dog, the coat has gone dull and dusty, and a bath is not happening tonight. This spray lifts the dirt and coat oil onto a towel and takes the doggy smell with it, so the coat comes up clean and soft in a few minutes, with nothing sticky left behind.

A no-rinse cleansing spray for the days between baths.

  • Plant-based cleansers: decyl glucoside from corn and coconut, with quillaja from the soap bark tree, lift dirt and coat oil.
  • Binds odor instead of covering it: zinc ricinoleate, made from castor oil, holds on to the smell.
  • South African botanicals: aloe ferox, rooibos and kigelia, with a Cape buchu note.
  • Witch hazel: an alcohol-free distillate that cuts through coat oil.
  • Lightly scented: lavender first, with a soft herbal note of rosemary.

We made this for the in-between days, when a dog is not dirty enough for the tub but you notice them the moment they climb onto the sofa. Some of the spray stays on the coat after towelling, and the formula is built around that. The essential oils are kept to 0.3%, the alcohol to 2% and the glycerin to 1%, and the whole bottle sits at a mildly acidic pH of 5 to 5.5. It is mixed cold in small batches of 30 bottles.

How to use it

Spray lightly from about 8 inches away, keeping clear of the face, eyes, nose and ears. Work it into the fur with your fingers, then rub dry with a clean towel. For the face, spray onto a cloth and wipe the muzzle and cheeks instead. Let the coat dry before your dog licks it. Use up to 2 or 3 times a week. Before the first use, spray a small patch and wait 24 hours.

What it is for

Everyday dirt, coat oil and doggy smell between baths, on short, medium and long coats. A dog that has rolled in mud or something greasy still needs the tub. For dogs only, not cats. Skip broken or irritated skin, and ask your vet first for puppies under 12 weeks, pregnant or nursing dogs, or a dog with a skin condition.

What is in it

Alongside the cleansers and botanicals, vitamin E protects the oils, polysorbate 20 keeps them evenly mixed, and Geogard ECT keeps the bottle fresh: a naturally derived or nature-identical preservative system, the same one used in our other sprays. The full ingredient list is in the Ingredients panel on this page.

What goes with it

After a walk, the Paw & Pavement Mist is the lighter wipe-down for paws and tummy. On bath day, any of our shampoos.

Keeping it

Room temperature, out of direct sunlight, with the cap closed. The best-by date is printed on the bottle.

It's great to be able to support a local company here in Huntsville, and the dogs go mad for everything.
