Coffeewood Chew

Coffee tree wood, cut and sanded into a chew. It is dense and slow going, and as a dog works at it the surface frays into soft fibres rather than cracking into points, which is how it differs from the stick they found in the garden. There is nothing in it to digest and no calories at all.

Why coffee wood

It frays into soft fibres as it wears rather than cracking into points, which is the real difference between this and the stick your dog found on the lawn. Give it a look over every few days and replace it when it gets short or an edge turns sharp.

Which size

Small is 6 inches and about three quarters of an inch thick. Large is 10 inches by an inch and a half. Extra large is 11 inches by two. Pick one your dog cannot get their back teeth around and you will get far more out of it.

If your dog has never had wood

Give it for ten minutes at a time for the first few goes, so you can see whether yours gnaws steadily or sets about it like a job.

Supervision

Supervise your dog, keep water nearby, and take the chew away once it is small enough to swallow whole.
